Winning big at an Online RV auctions
The first step is do the research required. Find out what the RV or trailer has sold in the past and at what amounts. This will help you ensure that you don't overbid and that you get a great deal. On eBay, you need to create a buyers account and then search the completed listings. Do do this, check the completed listing box in the left hand column and type in the words you are looking for. Understanding the online RV market is essential to helping you win big at RV auctions. Completed listings show you two things that are important. First, the product was selling price, and the selling frequency.
How to Bid at On line eBay RV auctions and Win
There are many reasons to want to bid at an online RV or trailer auction. People like auctions because they are easy to shop, and they can find bargain prices on quality used RVs. Personally, I enjoy eBay immensely and the following are a few good suggestions to winning bids on auction RVs without overspending your limit. We suggest you learn how to bid as outline below, because their is nothing more frustrating that losing an on line auction (you have work hard to find) in the last few seconds.
Secrets to online bidding at trailer and RV auctions:
The first step is to be patient. This so important. Yes you want to bid on it. Many see on auction as a foot race and want to be ahead. But bidding early can actually decrease your chances of eventually wining the item. First of all, everyone else knows there is another interested bidder. And second, in order for your bid to count, it increase the current high bid, causing others to expect to pay more for it and even you ultimately win with a higher bid you will have bid against yourself in the process. It is almost certain that your initial bid will be outbid anyway.
The optimal time to bid on an RV trailer, Motor home, or camper auction is during the final 10-15 seconds. I usually set a ceiling bid amount in advance. (This is the maximum price I am willing to pay.) I also set my watch to go off 5-10 minutes before the end of the auction. The gives me just enough time to get set up to win the auction.
The reason why we suggest waiting for the last 10 seconds, is so you can place a bid without allowing others bidders enough time to react. This needs to be done in conjunction with the next step.
The second step: After doing the initial research and setting a ceiling bid, with less then 10 seconds left on the auction clock, enter in your maximum bid. Although you think the RV, trailer, or camper will go for $600 and your maximum bid is $750, go ahead and bid $750. That way you have the most opportunity to get the RV trailer for less then your asking price. It is okay to bid high because you win by being the highest bidder and not by having the highest bid. It may even be better to place this bid within the final 3-5 seconds, this may allow you to get the item for less because other people won't have time to increase their bids.
Hint: We suggest having two bidding browser open to the same auction item at the same time. This may be useful to make a last second adjustments.
RV auction recap
Your watch goes off exactly 10 minutes before the auction ends. You go to the auctioned item on eBay and open up two browsers for it. You already know what your maximum bid is. You wait. 15 seconds, 10, then less. You type in your bid. 5...4...3, you hit the confirm button. Congratulations, you win the RV auction and you feel great about it!
