One question might be; will humans be controlled by the machines they create in the future, or will they control the machines by becoming one with them? Not long ago, I was discussing this with an acquaintance and he stated that; "Hyper-awareness is great when in control of vehicle, like being integrated into the vehicle and becoming part of the machine, I enjoy being one with a machine."
Yes, I've often had considered the controls of a motorcycle or aircraft merely extensions of my body, where I am the motorcycle, or the airplane. Someday I bet our devices are actually melded to us in some way, it makes sense, and many science fiction writers and the UFO crowd discusses these things, why not, kind of like the guns with the ring on the finger which prevents it from firing without the hand being nearby. There were some references to this futuristic technology in the movie District 9 recently, for instance.
As our machines become aware or as we age, and become machines (death by robot?) or both, it's essentially the same feeling you get when you are a track star becoming one with the track, or racing around a track on a motorcycle and becoming one with both, or becoming one with an aircraft you are flying. People who do sailing often talk about that experience, one with the wind, like a surfer one with the waves. So, I completely get it.
It seems almost like the natural progression for the future of our vehicles, and technology. It's hard to say which way things will go, but in the end the future is approaching fast, and it's up to use to catch that wave, and ride it. Are we going to fail and get pummeled in the surf, or is the human race going to arise to the occasion, and enjoy the future rush and take it?
